ONCE UPON A TIME… NEVER GETS OLD!
“Tell me the facts and I’ll learn. Tell me the truth and I’ll believe. But tell me a story and it will live in heart forever.” – Native American Proverb
Those who tell the stories rule the world!
Did you know…Stories have a transformative power to allow us to see the world in a different way than we do if we just encounter it on our own.
Telling stories is one of the most powerful means that leaders have to influence, teach, and inspire and as a business owner this is powerful growth hack without the feeling of overwhelm or selling your soul in the name of marketing.
The people (and brands) who can tell the most compelling stories are those who will command the most influence within their community. (Tweet this)
Storytelling allows you…
- Increase your visibility and authority
- Build an audience of engaged and eager buyers
- Sell out your offers
- Grab attention, create emotions and inspire action.
“If you wish to influence an individual or a group to embrace a particular value in their daily lives, tell them a compelling story.” – Annette Simmons
Here are my 5 top ways to grow your business using Storytelling
- Share Authentic stories
In a season where fake it till you make it has been elevated, a lot of people struggle with how to tell their real stories especially at the early stages for fear of being seen as small. It’s interesting to note that the opposite is true because no one is looking for a ‘perfect you’. I watched my audience grow with me and it’s truly humbling to see those who have been there from the start share how inspiring the journey has been.
You are an Original…stop trying to be a copy.
- Have a clear outcome
What action do you want your audience to take? You must be clear on what the outcome of your story is. Do you want to share a client’s testimonial? What is the outcome? What do you want to establish in the hearts of your audience? Tell your stories with intent and purpose.
- Use videos to tell your story.
Videos are so powerful as they spark emotions in your viewers. Never underestimate the influence of emotions in customer behavior.
How many times were minding your business watching a show and the moment an ad popped on the screen with a drink, the next thought that hit you was …’find and grab that drink’.
You can decide to have that same effect with your clients by using videos.
- Be Consistent
Do not be a one hit wonder. Have a plan and structure to share your stories consistently.
3 different types of stories to share consistently…
- The story of your products/services (Your audience needs to know what you are offering)
- Your Customer Experience (It lets them knowhow amazing you are)
- Your Why Story (It helps them connect to your ultimate goal)
Every Brand has a Story worth telling… It’s time you start/become intentional about telling yours!
Go ahead and share what inspired you to start your business in the comments. I would love to know.
GO! SPARKLE YOUR WORLD.
